6th November class. Drawing the model in traditional costume from Burkino Faso

This week looked at the work of artists from Burkino Faso as inspiration for the class. Our Model, Morimda was wearing a ceremonial costume from Burkino Faso for one of the poses. It is interesting to look at the different cultural and social concerns of artists throughout the ages as well as from different parts of the world. We looked at the composition, colour and subject matter of work by the Africa
artists and in particular, the painter, Suzanne Ouedraogo. Morimda described for us the landscape and weather of Burkino Faso to help us to place the figure in a space that could be 'other' then the life room.
