Drawing a Dancer!

This week, our model was David, a dancer. Initially Dominique was supposed to model, but being ill, proposed David as a stand in model. It was great for everyone to be able to draw a male dancer, as we have only have female dancers in the class before. David was fantastic and created a continuous dance movement, stopping in each pose for 30 seconds, then repeating the sequence. Some interesting drawings were created as you can see below! We looked at some drawings from either side of Degas' career also, as inspiration, looking first at an academic life drawing from early on in his career and then at one of his 'dancers' in his clearly recognisable later style.
